Violinist Anastasia Khitruk presents The Winter Lights - An Evening In St Petersburg, a special concert on Saturday 9 December 2006, 7pm at St Peter's Church, 619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street in New York City, USA. The music is by composers associated with St Petersburg, including Ivan Khandoshkin's Variations on Old Russian Songs (presented in celebration of Ms Khitruk's recent Naxos CD of the composer's violin music), the US première of three pieces for violin and piano by Alexander Tcherepnine, Rodion Schchedrin's Quadrille, Tchaikovsky's Pezzo capriccioso Op 62, Meditation Op 42 and Valse-Scherzo, along with Shostakovich's Piano Trio No 2 in E minor Op 67 (presented in honour of the 100th anniversary of the composer's birth).

The concert, presented by Chamber Players International and Jeffrey James Arts Consulting, also features pianist Svetlana Goruhovitch and cellist Andrei Tchekmazov.

Looking ahead to 2007, Chamber Players International is promoting another all-Russian concert on 4 March in its 'Sundays at noon: Champagne Brunch and Concert' series.
