Conducting prizes
American conductor Rebecca Miller, resident conductor with the Louisiana Philharmonic, and Lithuanian conductor Vytautas Lukocius were awarded joint first prize at the 4th Eduardo Mata International Conducting Competition in Mexico City on 27 September 2009. Second prize was awarded to Israeli conductor Yaniv Dinur. The prizes include engagements with significant orchestras in Mexico, South America and Spain. There were sixteen competitors from thirteen countries, and the members of the jury were Gisele Ben-Dor, Jorma Panula and Alun Francis. The final session was broadcast live on Mexican TV.
