Les Victoires

Les Victoires de la musique classique, an annual French classical music award event founded in 1986, is the classical equivalent of Les Victoires de la Musique and Les Victoires du Jazz, and the French equivalent of the US Classical Grammy Awards and the UK's Classical Brit Awards.

The 2016 award winners were announced on 24 February. Instrumental soloist winners were pianists Bertrand Chamayou and Adam Laloum, and flautist Magali Mosnier.

Lyric artist awards were given to mezzo-soprani Marianne Crebassa and Karine Deshayes, and to baritone Stéphane Degout.

'Instrumental soloist revelation' awards were received by violinist Camille Berthollet, viola player Adrien Boisseau and trumpet player Lucienne Renaudin.

'Lyric artist revelation' awards went to baritone Guillaume Andrieux, soprano Esla Dreisig and Tenor Jérémy Duffau.

Composers receiving awards were Richard Dubugnon (for Concerto sacra Op 67 for oboe and orchestra), Philippe Hersant (for Cantique des trois enfants dans la fournaise) and Bruno Mantovani (for In and Out, concerto for timpani and orchestra).

Although these awards are primarily for performers and composers, and the separate Diapason d'Or awards concentrate on recordings, three classical recordings received Les Victoires awards this year: Mozart - The Weber Sisters and Daphnis et Chloé, both on Erato, and to Julia Fuchs' Yes! on Deutsche Grammophon.
