Derby Bach Choir's came up with a bold, ambitious programme for their latest concert (Derby Cathedral, Derby, UK, 13 March 2010), bookended by two contrasting Te Deum settings. The second of Haydn's two came across with a suitable degree of healthy vigour, while the choir's vivid handling of the ceremonial character of Walton's Coronation Te Deum was not allowed to overshadow the work's contemplative heart.
