The moment Anthony Hughes commenced playing the rarely played Schumann Allegro in B minor Op 8 [at St James Church, Piccadilly, London UK, on 6 September 2010], he revealed to the listener his imaginative and individual style.

The programme featured seldom performed masterpieces by unjustly underestimated composers -- Carl Czerny, a specialist in well-known piano exercises and Mikhail Glinka, who is known as 'the father of Russian music'. The pianist played Czerny's unfamiliar Etude Melodieus Op 795 No 3 with a secure and enviable technique...
