A recital by Soojin Han and Tadashi Imai

The recital by Korean-born violinist Soojin Han and Japanese pianist Tadashi Imai turned out to be one of Derby Chamber Music's most memorable evenings of late (Multi-Faith Centre, Derby University, Derby, UK, 15 October 2010).

Soojin Han's authoritative account of J S Bach's solo Sonata No 2 was marked by her pure tone, using minimum vibrato, her command of Bach's polyphonic textures, especially in the fugal second movement, rhythmic security and poise. Her reading of Paganini's Caprice 11 was particularly notable for her skittish way with the middle section...
