A Good Feel
Christmas music from the Sitwell Singers,

I've commented before on the Sitwell Singers' refreshing willingness to explore some of the less familiar reaches of the Christmas repertoire (St John's Church, Derby, UK, 13 December 2010).
Michael Praetorius' arrangement of Es ist ein Ros' Entsprungen, as creatively re-imagined by Swedish composer Jan Sandström, is both hauntingly beautiful and a real test of a choir's control of breath, dynamics and pacing. Conductor Malcolm Goldring steered the singers through a performance of compelling conviction -- definitely the musical highpoint of my Christmas so far...
