Vivica Genaux and Europa Galante, heard by MARIA NOCKIN
On Saturday night, 28 January 2012, Arizona got a very special treat. The fourteen-player Italian Baroque ensemble Europa Galante, featuring mezzo-soprano soloist Vivica Genaux, appeared in the University of Arizona's Centennial Hall in Tucson as part of the group's cross country tour. The concert was essentially made up of pieces by Antonio Vivaldi, the red haired priest from Venice who lived from 1678 until 1741. There were also orchestral additions by violinist-composers Pietro Antonio Locatelli (1695-1764) and Pietro Nardini (1722-1793)...
