I admit to being a little paranoid about germs, being asthmatic, and carry a plastic hand sterilizing lotion, which I use before I ever play my double bass.

Sadly, I spilled a little of this right onto my bass yesterday evening before a rehearsal in a church, and it seems to have peeled off a small portion of the varnish...
