On his first visit to Derby, Martyn Rawles, organist of Lichfield Cathedral, presented an enjoyably eclectic programme that set out from the North German repertoire and moved in all sorts of directions (Derby Cathedral, Derby. UK, 18 July, 2012).
In the Praeludium in G by Nikolaus Bruhns, sonorities were admirably clear and focused, especially in the two fugues (the second a variation of the first); even at its thickest you could always hear exactly what was going on...
