It's hard to believe that Neeme Järvi is still out there making records after all these years -- I remember some of his first Chandos productions from the late 1980s, and he may have done one or two things for Melodiya before that. Given his prolific recorded output, it's even harder to believe that there's repertoire he hasn't yet gotten around to doing!
This program comes out rather as you'd expect Järvi-conducts-Chabrier to sound. Everything goes with a natural, generalized musicality based in the singing line...
