fascinating new opera Dolores Claiborne,

San Francisco Opera presented the world premiere of Dolores Claiborne by composer Tobias Picker and librettist J D McClatchy on 18 September 2013. Based on Stephen King's original 1992 novel, the basic story had already been seen as a film starring Kathy Bates. This was the fifth opera by Picker who premiered Emmeline in 1996, Fantastic Mr Fox in 1998, Therese Raquin in 2001, and An American Tragedy in 2005. McClatchy also wrote the text for Emmeline...
