This concert [6 February 2014, Severance Hall, Cleveland, Ohio, USA] was supposed to have been conducted by Pierre Boulez and for his fifty years of service to the Cleveland Orchestra, he was to have received the Distinguished Service Award. Health problems kept the Maestro from being able to be in town but his award was graciously accepted by the orchestra's principal keyboardist, Joela Jones, who recounted some memories of the Maestro's times working with the group.
