Some of our readers may have heard about the recent canceling of Georgian soprano Tamar Iveri's contract for her role in Verdi's Otello in the current Australian Opera production. There are many articles about this. One such can be found in The Guardian:

Whilst I think that such comments are deplorable and should be discouraged, I wonder whether sacking the performer was the correct way of handling the situation?..
