A FABULOUS CONCERT
Rachel Barton Pine's solo Paganini
impresses MARIA NOCKIN
On 5 February 2015, renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine played Niccolò Paganini's Caprices at the Piper Repertory Theater, Mesa Arts Center, Arizona, USA. The Piper only has 550 seats and was packed with patrons who enjoyed being close to the artist as she played her program of unaccompanied violin music.
Barton Pine joined guest Artistic Director Zuill Bailey for the pre concert chat in which they discussed the Caprices and the violinist's instrument, a 1742 Guarnerius del Gesù known as the ex-Soldat. She explained ex-Soldat means that the instrument once belonged to famous late nineteenth century violinist Marie Soldat...
