This highly exciting issue focusing on a composer who is hardly known is all the fruit of Daniele Rubboli, whose keen interest in bringing Gazzotti's name to light drove him to commence a journey into the unknown. Rubboli tells how he sought the help of Luca Saltini, the pianist on this recording, and together they started to investigate the human and musical history of Luigi Gazzotti (1886-1923).
The composer spent most of his short life in Vignola, the city he grew up in, and the one which eventually re-introduced him to the public. It was here that he started his musical journey, spurred by his father, who was a well-to-do lawyer and a great lover of music...
