The first of this year's Buxton Festival song recitals featured 2015 Ferrier Award-winning soprano Gemma Lois Summerfield and pianist Sebastian Whybrew (Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton, UK, 9 July 2016).

Their opening Mendelssohn group featured both Felix and his sister, Fanny. In Felix's 'Neue Liebe' Op 19a No 4, they finely gauged the darkening tone of the final verse, and summoned a wide dynamic range for 'Die Liebende Schreibt', Op 86 No 3...
