Jón Nordal (born 1926) can certainly be regarded as the greatest living composer to come out of Iceland during the twentieth century. Despite his venerable age he is still very active, but somehow, his music does not seem to have gained the popularity it deserves. Indeed, this CD is my first introduction to this composer, and it proved to be a surprise in more ways than one...
