After watching this DVD, I was at a memorial service for a distinguished diplomat at which
was sung the farewell terzettino for the departing soldiers, 'Soave sia il vento'. One
could only wish a safe passage for all concerned. The mood has remained with me, and I must
regard this performance mainly as a disappointing monument to a Così that failed
to come off, and as a 150th tribute to Mozart that succeeded, as it were, in sounding too many
wrong notes.
