Nadia Boulanger

A French composer, conductor, and outstanding teacher was Nadia Boulanger, born (16 September 1887) and died (22 October 1979) in Paris.

So many musicians - Daniel Barenboim, Lennox Berkeley, Aaron Copland, David Diamond, Adolphus Hailstork, Ralph Kirkpatrick and Dinu Lipatti, to name but a few - came under her spell and benefited immensely in their art.

She was amongst the first to discover and promulgate the delights of Claudio Monteverdi.
