Gordon Crosse

Born at Bury, Lancashire, UK on 1 December 1937, Gordon Crosse sadly departed the music scene after years of growing success. His 1965 Changes for chorus and orchestra was widely applauded and performed. There was a good deal of chamber and orchestral music, most of it performed with interest, but by the early eighties his decision was made. - Basil Ramsey

Gordon Crosse studied music at Oxford University with Egon Wellesz and then researched fifteenth century music for two years. He had a university academic career in Birmingham, Essex, Cambridge, California and at the Royal Academy of Music in London before retiring to Suffolk.

From 1991 until 2006, Crosse took an extended break from composition, concentrating instead on computer programming and music technology.

Gordon Crosse died on 21 November 2021 aged eighty-three.
