Bangladeshi musicologist Karunamoy Goswami was born on 11 March 1942. He studied at Dhaka University, completing his PhD on 'Bangla Kabyo-geetir Dharaye Kazi Nazrul Islam-er Sthan'.
He researched in the fields of Bangla music and Nazrul songs. His many books on music include the Bangla Academy publication Sangeet Kosh.
In 2012 the Bangladeshi government awarded him the Ekushey Padak - the country's second highest civilian award.
He died in Dhaka on 30 June 2017, aged seventy-five.
