Patrick Moore

The idiosyncratic, much honoured and much-impersonated English astronomer and TV presenter Patrick Moore (born in Pinner on 4 March 1923) was also an amateur musician - a self-taught xylophone player and pianist, and also a composer of two operettas and other works.

Various high-profile performances include duets with Albert Einstein and Evelyn Glennie, and appearances in Hoffnung Music Festival concerts playing tuned bottles in Haydn's Surprise Symphony.

Moore died at home in Selsey on 9 December 2012.
