Johann Wenzel Stamitz
The Bohemian composer and violinist, Johann Wenzel Stamitz was baptised on 19 June 1717 at Nemecký Brod. He played in court orchestras in Europe and generally influenced standards of performance. As a composer, Stamitz was prolific: his fifty symphonies bear testimony to innovative structural development. He died in Mannheim and was buried on 30 March 1757.
