Jon Vickers

Canadian-born Jonathan Stewart Vickers had a distinguished career as an operatic heldentenor, first appearing at Covent Garden in 1957 and Bayreuth a year later. Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on 29 October 1926, he studied with George Lambert at the Toronto Royal Conservatory. His many roles have notably included Tristan.

Jon Vickers died in Ontario of Alzheimer's disease on 10 July 2015.
