Sullivan violin part discovered in USA
It was announced on 19 June that a first violin part of the lost De Belville Song from Iolanthe was discovered in 1998 by Professor Bruce Miller of Holy Cross College, Massachusetts, USA. The discovery was kept secret because Miller hoped to be able to reconstruct the song, and the exact source still appears to be a mystery ... as does the history of the song itself, which was cut from the opera following its 1882 first performance.
