Death of Herbert Fox
American music manager Herbert O Fox died in California on 29 June 2000, aged 82. Fox, one of the USA's most influential and powerful music managers, worked for Columbia Artists Management for 54 years, where he was able to promote the careers of many classical, jazz and Broadway musicians and dancers, including Mario Lanza and the blues legend Leadbelly. Herbert Fox was also chairman of Columbia Artists Festivals, and founder of the Broadway Theatre Alliance. Since retiring from Columbia in 1993, Fox served on the boards of Opera Pacific, Orange County High School of the Performing Arts and the William Hall Chorale.
