Aage Haugland
The Danish bass Aage Haugland died on 24 December 2000, aged 56, in Copenhagen. Haugland joined the Royal Danish Opera in 1973, sang Hunding in Die Walküre at London's Covent Garden in 1975, and Baron Ochs in Rosenkavalier at The Met in New York in 1979. He became known for his roles in the operas of Carl Nielsen, and was a friend and collaborator of the late Georg Solti.
