Jimmy Shand

Scottish accordion player Jimmy Shand died in Perth (UK) on 23 December 2000, aged 92. Working as a miner, Shand made his first recording in 1933, formed The Jimmy Shand Band (1945), hit the charts with The Bluebell Polka (1955) and appeared on TV frequently, especially, more recently, at New Year. He was knighted in 1999.
