Beautifully Expressive
The Isolani Quartet,
heard by MIKE WHEELER
Another concert, another group of highly talented students from the Royal Northern College of Music (Derby Chamber Music, Multi-Faith Centre, Derby University, UK, 12 February 2010). The Isolani Quartet, consisting of four Japanese players, was formed only just over a year ago but they already have considerable concert, masterclass and competition experience, as does clarinettist Thomas Verity, who joined them on this occasion.
The concert was framed by two clarinet quintets: Weber's unashamed virtuoso clarinet showcase, and Mozart's more intimate, more closely integrated masterpiece...
