An evening with Juan-Diego Flórez,

Juan-Diego Flórez is one of the world's greatest lyric tenors and could probably quite easily spend the remainder of his life singing the same dozen operas. But he certainly is not content to simply let his repertoire stagnate; not only does he sing an impressive number of bel canto operas, but he has made successful forays into other repertoire. For his recital at London's Royal Festival Hall on Thursday 20 January 2011 he certainly performed a remarkably varied selection of items. The recital was part of the Rosenblatt Recitals series; these normally take place at St John's Smith Square, but such is Flórez' fame that he easily filled the Royal Festival Hall.

Flórez and pianist Vincenzo Scalera started with a pair of arias from Mozart's La clemenza di Tito -- Se all'impero and Del più sublime soglio...
