Hannah Yip's Derby Cathedral recital
impresses MIKE WHEELER
This may have been a modest little lunchtime recital (Derby Cathedral, Derby, UK, 24 June 2011), but it served notice of a potential major new talent.
Pianist Hannah Yip, a former pupil of Chetham's School of Music, Manchester, is now at London's Guildhall School, with studies and masterclasses with, among others, Murray McLachlan, Barry Douglas and Michel Béroff behind her.
Her modest platform manner belied a strong musical personality that made the first movement of Mozart's Sonata in D, K311, fresh and bubbly...
