The celebrated introduction to Mozart's 'Dissonance' Quartet was not quite as dark as usual, but without short-changing the music's sheer strangeness. In the second movement the players combined graceful lyricism and profound searching, there was dancing elegance in the Minuet, and the harmonic side-slips in the finale were negotiated with precision and minimum fuss...
