MIKE WHEELER listens to pianist Helen Reid
Helen Reid made a welcome return to Derby Chamber Music, two years after her first visit, with another intelligently- and imaginatively-planned programme (Multi-Faith Centre, Derby University, Derby, UK, 17 February 2012).
It was marked, as before, by the kind of unshowy performance that draws the audience into complete engagement with whatever she's playing. In Satie -- the first Gnossienne and first two Nocturnes -- she found a vein of haunting melancholy...
