Uncommonly Patronizing
A Stravinsky tale for children -
confuses HOWARD SMITH'... convoluted to say the least.'

Here with Stravinsky in neo-classical mode and immersed in Russian/French ballet the LPO do their part with customary flair. Sadly however the total Maestro Classics package is more confusing than enlightening or entertaining. Furthermore attempts at dramatic narration by Dr Konrad Czynski (also known as 'Yadu') sound uncommonly patronizing.
Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz' Faustian parable (1918) about a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil for a book predicting the future of the economy is hardly the most concise retelling of a fifteenth century north German legend...
