This innovative work comes from the pen of a rather obscure Polish composer who really should be up there in the firmament of contemporary composers. I enjoyed this meditative opus hugely, with some particularly reflective pieces harrowingly describing Christ's awesome passion which is definitely better understood with this music.

As one reads the extensive notes provided for this recording, the deep and fervent brand of Roman Catholicism which pervades Lukaszewksi's music is more readily understood...
