The Salzburg Summer Festival is under new management. There had been concern that the new Director General Alexander Pereira, with long experience in Zürich (a well known repertory opera house) would have de-emphasized contemporary music. However, this year, the Summer Festival (from 20 July until 2 September 2012) offers a rich contemporary music section: as many as fifteen concerts and the major opera staging -- coproduced with La Scala Milan, where it is programmed in the 2013-2014 season.
