As French-Canadian pianist Louise Bessette told us in her introduction, she likes to play music from the countries she performs in. Bax was not an obvious choice on this occasion (Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham UK, 27 January 2013), and his Suite on the name Gabriel Fauré even less so. He composed it in 1945, but it was not published, so the programme informed us, until 1996, and this performance of the last of its five movements may possibly have been a UK premiere...
