Fire and Time - Works for Orchestra. © 2012 Navona Records LLC

The short orchestral piece presented here, Kavanah (Remembrance), was written in 1995 and is sub-titled 'Quasi-Quodlibet', the melodies superimposed on the background being reminiscent of a Klezmer style, one of which is a traditional Yiddish song. Knowing the St Petersburg orchestra would play the piece induced the 'remembrance' of its title, though the appearance of the Dies irae is interesting.
