A Special Affinity

Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt

'... beautiful voicing and highly sensitive phrasing.'

Empassioned. Beethoven; Chopin; Liszt. © 2013 Viktor Bijelovic

Viktor Bijelovic's debut album presents listeners with a selection of well-known works from the classical canon, including Chopin's Ballade in G minor, Debussy's Clair de Lune, and Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No 2. Although it is always a pleasure to hear these crowd favorites, one has to wonder what compelled Bijelovic to take such a risk. Given the familiarity with which listeners approach these pieces, expectations for a flawless and original performance are immediately higher than normal; a run-of-the-mill interpretation simply will not do. With this context in mind, we can applaud much of Bijelovic's work...
