It's hard to sit still while listening to this sparkling Concerto Caledonia re-creation of eighteenth-century Scottish composer Robert 'Red Rob' Mackintosh's dance music. Most is drawn from his first collection (1783). At over an hour (66 minutes plus a few seconds), this generous sampling of Mackintosh's rhythmic style as recreated by this lively quartet furnishes a glimpse into eighteenth-century Scottish life.
