'... piano music of singular merit.'

Exile - Piano Music by Composers with Roots in Two Continents - Eric Le Van. © 2013 Music and Arts Programs of America Inc

Exil ('Exile') concentrates on five European composers moved to emigrate with the emergence of the Third Reich (1933-1945) and eventual Anschluss (1938).

They were Erich Korngold (Austro-Hungarian, 1897-1957), Erich Zeisl (Austrian, 1905-1959), Ernst Toch (Austrian, 1887-1964), Arnold Schoenberg (Austrian, 1874-1951) and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (Italian, 1895-1968).

In today's musical aware homes composers Zeisl and Toch are virtually forgotten. Now thankfully we hear piano music of singular merit...
