Born in Biberach in 1752, Justin Heinrich Knecht was the son of a Kantor who was his first teacher. As a young boy he furthered his education in his home town studying organ, keyboard, violin and singing. As with many budding composers of the time, Knecht was influenced by the leading musicians of this period, and his travels outside Biberach served him in good stead for his future career. But all throughout his life his main musical activities were always realized in his place of birth...
