The Cunning Little Vixen is an opera by Leoš Janáček, with a libretto adapted by the composer from a serialized novella (otherwise known as a comic strip) by Rudolf Těsnohlídek and Stanislav Lolek, which was first published in the newspaper Lidové noviny. In past productions, singers were costumed as the animals encountered within the story; foxes, dogs, hens, roosters, frogs, mosquitos, owls, crickets, badgers and the like...
