J S Bach's St Matthew Passion,

J S Bach's St Matthew Passion is a work many members of Derby Bach Choir must know inside-out, but their recent performance steered well clear of the merely routine (Derby Cathedral, Derby UK, 28 March 2015). They were at their best particularly when calling down thunder and lightning as Jesus is arrested, and bringing punchy vigour to the trial scenes. The chorales were sung lovingly but with no undue lingering...
