Verdi's 'Otello', live in HD from New York

After his monumental success with Aida in 1871, Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) thought he would retire and live quietly for the rest of his life. His publisher, Giulio Ricordi, thought otherwise, however. He introduced Verdi to fellow composer Arrigo Boito (1842-1918), who managed to charm the older man. Verdi eventually agreed to revise Simon Boccanegra with Boito and in 1881 he looked at the younger man's libretto for Otello...
