This effectively disquieting retrospective work by Mary Anne Joyce-Walter revisits the tragic fate of Jewish youngsters caught up in ghoulish practices of 1940s Nazis. I was inescapably swept along in recollections of horror and heroism by kids subject to offences no child should ever confront.
A passing thought: Ravello's inventive and tasteful presentation / packaging merits special kudos. Melba Recordings borders on the ostentatious, though harmonia mundi and a few smaller labels are putting the mundane 'big guns' to shame...
