Two triumphant role debuts were augmented by four of the world's leading Don Carlo soloists to create a memorable evening at San Francisco's War Memorial Opera House.
In his first outing in the title role, Michael Fabiano embodied an emotion-laden interpretation, his rock solid tenor ringing out in the house with thrilling conviction and with squillo to spare.
