A year and a half after retiring as Master of the Music at Derby Cathedral, Peter Gould was back to make a contribution to this year's organ series.
It was a neat idea to start with the last piece he played in Derby before stepping down, the first movement of Widor's Sixth Symphony. His no-nonsense opening grabbed the attention, and the performance struck a fine balance between tonal variety and finding a clear path through the structure...
