This interesting disc draws its material from the wealth of multicultural music coming from this region of Manitoba in Canada. The arrangements are skilful and never get in the way of music that is often jocular, occasionally sorrowful, and that lightens the heart when conditions may have been pretty hard and rudimentary a lot of the time. You can sense the importance music played in people's lives in this area, in a simpler age before later inventions changed leisure time forever...
